The home is evaluated using professional equipment including blower door, infra-red camera, manometer and a combustion analyzer and many more specialized tools. The goal of the home energy audit is identify opportunities to reduce lost or wasted energy.

Welcome to Certified Energy Audits. I’m Scott Gast, owner. My past experience remodeling, building homes, in commercial development and as a REALTOR® have led me to start Certified Energy Audits, Inc. in 2009. With the help of the Indiana Builders Association, Indiana Community Action Association and the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority, I personally visited over two hundred homes to perform energy audits in my first year. I travel up to two hundred miles from the South Bend Indiana area to complete home energy audits in Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Ohio. I have also educated hundreds of new energy auditors and contractors.

Any homeowner can benefit from a home energy audit. Whether the home was built in 1900 or is  brand new, there are always energy saving opportunities. 20% of the homes I visit that have furnace and water heater metal-piped into one flue fail the draft test and spill carbon monoxide into the home. A common failure of energy auditors is overlooking safety elements while searching for energy saving opportunities.
